Close to the town of Tromso your cosy fisherman’s cabin will provide you with dark skies and total silence giving you optimum opportunities for seeing the Aurora on this amazing Northern Lights holiday. During the day enjoy a variety of winter activities from a fantastic selection including dog sledding, skiing, snow-mobiling and snow shoeing! As darkness falls your search for the aurora will begin.
Norway - Tromso
At nearly 70 degrees north and close to Tromso, the Lyngen area offers one of the best places in Europe for experiencing the Northern Lights. Your cabin is situated around a half an hour from Tromso, which is affectionately referred to by some as "the Paris of the North". Due to the Gulf Stream, the temperatures in this area are not quite as cold as you might expect but with plenty of snow it is the perfect place for winter activities. Overlooking the stunning Kattfjord your traditional fisherman's cabin will keep you warm and cosy even on the coldest winter's night and is a great destiantion for a Northern Lights holiday!
This package is available between December and April.
Your cosy cabin is of a high standard and in an idyllic location on the water's edge in Kattfjord. These shoreline cabins are built using "cog and notched" timber, insulated and clad in traditional style.
All have electric heating and are well equipped for a cosy and comfortable stay. Each cabin has a large outside terrace for you to enjoy the spectacular views. The cabin has a total area of 100 m2, over 2 floors. The ground floor consists of a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, TV lounge with satellite tv/radio/CD, bathroom with shower/wc and 1 bedroom (single). There is also an outside storage room and drying room.
The first floor consists of 2 large bedrooms (3 beds and 2 beds), bathroom with shower/wc. Each cabin will come complete with ready made-up beds , towels, hand soap and toilet tissue. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker/kettle, toaster, electric cooker (4 hobs) and large refrigerator. Free WiFi internet is available in all cabins.
There are a wide range of activities on offer. Simply choose the ones you would like to include in your package.
Driving in pairs through the Arctic wilderness you will climb up to 850m providing magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The tour includes all equipment and a hot meal, and is a truly fantastic way to spend the day and explore the Arctic. Also available as an evening activity.
Say hello to a bunch of barking huskies that are ready for action (but still very friendly). The trails you follow have a total distance of approximately 15 km within an area totally uninhabited, with just mountains and forest. Also available as an evening activity.
From mid November through until the end of January it is possible to see humpback and killer whales which visit the fjords around Tromso to feed on the herring. This 3 hour trip will also allow you to enjoy the beautiful Arctic scenery and see other animals such as porpoises and dolphins.

A great trip for your first day. Your local guide will take you around the area so you can get to know your surroundings and learn a little bit about the history of this fascinating place.
Flights to your chosen destination are not included in your package. However we will always include details of the most suitable flights in our opinion to match your tailor-made itinerary.
