Geography

The region is sparsely populated with only 14 people per km² and just one town of significant size. The region is characterised by dense forests and lakes, giving rise to the nickname of ‘Sweden's lake province’.

Plants and Animals

Due to the amount of forested area many different species of animals can be found including moose, beavers and wolves.

Sweden is known for his large variety of edible berries, and these can usually be found around every corner of a hike into the woods. The majority of the trees are pine or spruce, which grow right up to the shores edges on many of the lakes.
